On Declination

Declination is the degree of the angle, or the difference, between true north and magnetic north. When one is navigating in an area where this degree is greater than a couple of degrees, one is forced to make adjustments. I like to think of it like this: true north is the domain of scholars and academics, magnetic north is that of thinkers and philosophers, and the area in between is the domain of writers and poets.
